Cooking Club

This session promotes healthy eating with children, and in the summer months will give children the opportunity to help grow plants and vegetables in the Community Garden at the centre.  The session also uses food from the Bubble & Squeak surplus food project.

Cooking Club is a great way for children to get busy in the kitchen, make new friends and have fun after school.  As well as looking after the garden the children in the summer also go foraging on Wormwood Scrubs for edible fruits and make their own jam.

This session mainly focuses on:

  • Children working as a team to make a meal for their peer group
  •  The importance of a healthy meal and how to prepare food
  • Using surplus food, mainly healthy fruit and vegetables sourced from the Bubble & Squeak surplus food project
  •  Typing up recipes which children can take home with them

This session is run by Lydia term-time only, every Wednesday – 16.00 – 17.30.  Ages 5-12 years.
