GENTLE EXERCISE and RELAXATION for local over 60s

Fridays 10:30 to 12 noon

•Are you aged 60+ ?
•Do you have limited mobility or would like to feel more energised, stronger and relaxed?
•Would you like more mental and physical focus, concentration and co-ordination?
• This is for you! And it’s FREE!

The Government recommends that adults aged 19 to 64 complete 30 minutes of moderate exercise (for example housework or brisk walking) 5 days a week to stay fit and healthy. We recommend that this exercise is also fun!

At Old Oak, we try to offer something for everyone. Regulars tell us they are now more mobile and have more energy. One said: “I no longer need a stick to walk and my ankles don’t swell up anymore”.

This friendly exercise and support group will offer you:

• Light exercise and movements (from a chair if you are unable to stand for long) to help increase your physical strength, confidence and mobility.
• Maintain or gain a healthier heart and respiratory system.
• Boost your immune system and strengthen muscles and bones, increase your brain’s production of serotonin (responsible for better moods, feeling more content).
• Relieve stiffness, increase flexibility and help slow down the ageing process.
• Exercise naturally has a positive effect on the mind – increase mental and psychological focus, concentration and relaxed alertness.
• Option to complete entire class from your chair and you will learn simple movements you can practice at home.
• Learn simple relaxation and mindfulness techniques which you can practice anywhere to help you feel calm and more content.
• A community of people where you can share your concerns and/or joys, make new friends.
• Have fun! Around half of the class will be to music and the other half for discussion and relaxation.
