Find the best energy supplier for you and raise money for charity!

November 30, 2012 in News by Old Oak Centre

Do you want to reduce your gas and electricity bills but think it is too much hassle to switch supplier? Family Mosaic has developed an online portal to help residents and staff find the most cost effective tariffs for their gas and electricity.

The portal, designed in partnership with Energylinx, will allow you to compare your energy use with tariffs from all of the energy suppliers operating in the UK. You can switch supplier through the portal and Energylinx will take the hassle out of the process by doing as much of the admin for you as possible.

The portal is at http://energylinx.co.uk/energy/familymosaic.

You can also switch by phone if you prefer, by calling 01259 220170. One of the Family Mosaic advisors will guide you through all the way through the switching process.

Try it and see…and then let us know about your experience. The Sustainability Team needs staff to test whether site is easy to use and provide them with feedback. For every staff member who switches during the pilot, a small commission will be paid to FM, which will go towards the Maisie Sheed Trust*. If at least 100 people switch, then Family Mosaic has agreed to donate £1,000 to the Trust!

You have till 24 December to participate in the pilot. Once you have switched, you will be emailed a short feedback form to complete.

*The Maisie Sheed Trust is the charitable foundation set up to support and empower individuals and groups in need through vulnerability, lack of opportunity or employment. The work is carried out by our Social and Financial Inclusion Team

Making an Impact!

November 16, 2012 in News by Old Oak Centre

The Community Impact Awards recognise the vast range of neighbourhood projects run by housing associations above and beyond providing homes.

Family Mosaic’s  Employment Team faced tough competition from 12 other shortlisted schemes, but was able to beat them all to be crowned the overall London winner of the National Housing Federation’s Community Impact Awards.

Personalised support and jobs brokerage

To date since the start of the Family Mosaic employment programme, it has supported over 750 people into work, including 140 this year alone. This year has seen an increased investment by Family Mosaic and an expansion of the programme to include more employment liaison officers to offer personalised employment support and a specialist job brokerage service which engages directly with employers to secure opportunities for our residents and customers.  This applies to Old Oak tenants too.

The achievement at the Community Impact Awards is recognition of Family Mosaic’s commitment to building the futures of residents and customers through training and employment opportunities, and should prove a boost to the Employment Team in achieving the ambitious target of supporting 1000 people into jobs over the next three years.

National Housing Federation London Lead Manager Michelle Smith said:

“Their projects show how housing associations go far beyond providing people with homes – they help residents live life to the full and create healthy and happy neighbourhoods. I wish Family Mosaic luck as they head to the competition’s national finals.”

Sarah Mbatha Regional Director said:

“To win the overall London award is a huge achievement and I am so happy to see the hard work of the Employment Team recognised and rewarded.”

David Leach Director of Old Oak Housing Association said:

“Well done to Old Oak Housing Association, a subsidiary of the Family Mosaic group, whose shortlisting in the Improving Neighbourhoods category also represents a significant achievement.”
